To start, Sunday wasn’t a great day for me. I woke up feeling already overwhelmed and stressed out because I needed to accomplish a lot, and there are only so many hours in a day. With the help of my boyfriend/Insta-Husband (hah!) we set a game plan on how to accomplish everything we needed to and still have time to catch up on American Horror Story together that night.
I started to get ready and pack for a day of shooting outfits, when someone decided to be selfish and make a very hurtful side-comment towards what I do. Safe to say it ruined my day. I’m skipping the details, but any normal individual would have brushed it off and went about the day. This comment stuck in the back of my head and I actually started to question if this is what a lot of people think of me and my passions. I held back tears the entire day knowing that someone I loved didn’t support or take me and my blog seriously. I’m very supportive of my friends and family’s choices to do what they love in life. I’m the biggest cheerleader and their number one fan. I even try utilizing my skills and knowledge of the industry to help their own businesses succeed. It’s sad to not always have that in return.
It’s hard to branch off the path society tells you to take and do something different than what you’re “supposed” to do. I went to college, got a degree, landed my steady corporate job just like everyone told me I had to do to be successful. Well, society is changing and I’m quickly learning I can do so much more in this world if I took myself off this structured path and created something that doesn’t quite exist yet that people are looking for. Just because you don’t understand something, it doesn’t give you a reason to knock it and make fun of it. I would never stoop down to that level because I’d like to think I’m a good person. Good things come to good people who work hard and that’s what keeps me going every day.
Sorry for the rant, but to understand why this small gesture literally made my day, it’s important to know how upset and humiliated I felt.
So after hours of taking photos (while holding back tears) I finally called it quits. For those of you who don’t know, when you take pictures the camera shows EVERYTHING. It sees right through your fake smile and even if you try and hide your emotions, the pictures just don’t look genuine and it looks terrible. It was an exhausting day to say the least.
Right before dinner, I wanted to fit in one last outfit picture because I noticed the cutest vintage Dodge parked outside the restaurant. I was trying to be discreet because I literally was taking a picture in front of some random person’s car and that’s just weird. Not even a minute later, the owners showed up and noticed what we were doing. I immediately became awkward and started to think of ways to try and explain why I was taking pictures of their car. The woman had the biggest smile, and actually jingled the keys in front of me and asked if I wanted to go inside! They happened to be eating at one of the outdoor tables and were thrilled we liked the car so much that we wanted to take a photo in front it it. I couldn’t thank this sweetest couple enough. We eventually said goodbye and went inside for dinner.
Just when you think this story can’t get much better, the check came and our waiter informed us a couple at the bar had paid for our drinks. I wanted to cry right on the spot. Not to get all religious, but God works in mysterious ways and I truly believe someone was looking out for me and knew I needed a pick-me-up.
Small acts of kindness go so far, and this couple inspired me to share my story because I’m so grateful of what they did for me. If anyone is from the Babylon, Long Island area and recognizes this car, PLEASE message me!
That’s all I have for you today guys! Just remember to always spread kindness, not negativity. It will come back to you full circle.
Have a great day guys!
