Well, it’s been a DECADE [to say the least]. 😂 I took a moment to look back on the past ten years and truly appreciate how much I’ve grown as a person. This past year alone has made me realize being happier with yourself is worth more than anything in the world. Sometimes it’s hard to see your accomplishments in real-time, so I encourage you to take a second to really think back to who you were ten years ago.
Let me rewind to 2010 for a sec.
I’m a junior in high school. I know I want to pursue fashion as my career path, My dream is to go to The Fashion Institute of Technology and become a designer for some big name company.
. . . guess what? I did all of this. I got into FIT, landed that dream job, and worked for numerous big name companies in the industry. I should be happy, right?
Wrong.
It took me ten years to realize this actually isn’t what I wanted for my life.
and that’s ok.
Fast-forwarding to today, I’m happier than I’ve been in a VERY long time. I finally feel I have a true purpose + path. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not easy. Like, at all. I’m working double . . . actually triple the amount I was back in corporate, but
. . . it’s so worth it.
If you don’t know my story, you may think I’m just a millennial who wanted to work from home because it’s easier and I can work when I want to. Well, anyone who actually works at home knows its 1000x harder to stay focused and manage your time. I took this risk, and thankfully I’m able to get up everyday and get shit done—to be blunt. Between managing two part-time jobs during the week and taking on my own design clients, I really don’t have room to slack off. For me, being super busy all the time just works.
Not going to lie, I debated stopping this blog all together. In the end I decided it’s something I truly enjoy, which was the whole point of changing my lifestyle, right? So I’m making a conscious effort to maintain this space and let you guys in on all aspects of my life. Between design, entrepreneurship, and being a social media influencer, I hope I can blend it all together to make some sort of sense.
I’m going into this new decade with a brand new mindset on life. I feel a sense of clarity and eagerness to close this book and start fresh once again. I’m excited to have you join me on this journey!
Cheers to a fresh start and a happier New Year!
